OVERVIEW:
Steering Gears Training Course covers Steering Gear System in Ship, Types of Steering Gears on Ships and its construction and working. The training also course includes the function of the steering column and intermediate shaft subsystem, the influence of system tuning on steering response and torque feedback, parameters that affect steering response and torque feedback and the effect of power steering on fuel economy.
The training course has also described some of the features of advanced steering systems
TRAINING OBJECTIVES:
1. Identify common steering and suspension system architectures.
2. Compare and contrast different types of steering gears.
3. Describe the function of the steering column and intermediate shaft subsystem.
4. Describe the influence of system tuning on steering response and torque feedback.
5. Compare and contrast different types of power assist systems.
6. Describe the effect of power steering on fuel economy.
7. Calculate important parameters that affect steering response and torque feedback.
8. Describe some of the features of advanced steering systems.
